Mr. & Mrs. Greig
*Deep breath* I'm back.
April 2015 I gave birth to my son Marvin and took time away from wedding photography. At the time the choice was definite because I was planning to focus solely on our videography. The last wedding I shot as Emily Swihart Photography was for Brian and Rachel Greig on July 3, 2015.
Soon after, we rebranded and became AE Photo Film and started a new chapter. Here we are at the beginning of 2017 and I'm longing to be a wedding photographer again. I was lucky enough to second shoot for some extremely talented photographers in 2016. For the first time in my career I was able to step back into a secondary role and see wedding photography from another perspective.
Have you ever had something taken away from you and it just makes you want it even more?
The funny thing is, I took wedding photography away from myself. I was lost in what it meant to be a wedding photographer. Too worried about what others were doing or not doing. I lost the reason why I chose to shoot weddings in the first place. I can't wait to get back to creating lasting memories for couples as they commit their lives to each other. What a blessing it is to be a part of such an extraordinary day.
When Adam and I photographed Rachel and Brian's wedding I had a deep personal conviction to provide them with the best photos I could. I met Rachel and Brian when we were still in high school and I was honored years later when they chose me to photograph their vows.
Rachel and her girls got ready at Oakwood Resort in Syracuse, IN before traveling to the ceremony and reception location. They exchanged their vows and celebrated with friends and family at The Spohn Ballroom in Goshen, Indiana. The theme of the evening was a picnic packed with fun as the couple provided games for everyone to enjoy. The whole day was so well planned, relaxed, and filled with joy. We could not have asked for a better wedding to end our 2015 season
I now look forward to sharing more blog posts with new weddings. God has been stirring in my heart and I'm feeling truly called to continue this journey of wedding photography. If you're looking for a photographer for your 2017 wedding, please reach out to me! Let's chat. :)
Congratulations Brian and Rachel on your marriage, your new house, and the upcoming celebration of your 2nd wedding anniversary. I'm so grateful to have been the one to capture these memories for you. I suppose a blog post about your wedding two years later is one of those better late than never instances right? ;)
